MEDAL OF VALOR REVIEW BOARD

David Harless Chairman

The Medal of Valor Review Board is to be composed of a police officer, deputy sheriff, paid firefighter, volunteer fighter, corrections officer, volunteer rescue squad member and one citizen member. The members are:

• Warren David Harless, Esquire, Christian Barton, LLP, Richmond Chairman
• Nicholas J. Caputo, Assistant Fire Chief, Henrico County Vice-Chairman
• Donald Hansen, Division Chief, Department of Fire Programs
• Charise Thompson, Deputy Sheriff, Fairfax County
• Cynthia Garrett, Emergency Medical Technician, Madison County
• Officer Joyce M. Waddy, Fluvanna Corrections Center
• Captain Richard A. Denney, Virginia State Police, Salem

The Board has structured itself established a time line for Board actions, developed the criteria to be applied in evaluating recommendations for recognition [including recommending a lesser Meritorious Service Medal] and solicited nominations from over 1,400 Virginia public safety agencies. Where required, each of these actions has been approved by the Governor prior to implementation.
